UPF

What is it?

UPF stand for Ultraviolet Protection Factor. Clothing can protect you from the sun's ultraviolet rays. It all depends on the fiber content, weave, weight of fabric and color.

So what's the difference between UPF and SPF?

SPF stands for the Sun Protection Factor, most commonly associated with sunscreen. This measures the amount of time it takes for skin to burn. UPF on the other hand stands for Ultraviolet Protection Factor, which is a measure of the amount of UV radiation that penetrates a fabric and reaches your skin. For example, a fabric rated with a UPF of 20 will allow only 1/20th of the sun's UV rays to pass through.

Marmot UPF fabrics come in UPF 20, 25, 30, 35, 45 & 50.

What are the benefits of this technology?

Wearing a UPF fabric would greatly reduce your exposure to UV rays, (where it covers your body). Dark colors and tight weaves will have higher UPF ratings. As well, nylons and polyesters are better than plain cotton because they reflect radiation.

Airflow

What is it?

Marmot's Airflow technology is a range of performance fabrics that are engineered to provide up to 50% more breathability. The construction of the fabric allows a high amount of air to pass through keeping you cool and comfortable when active.

Up to 50% more breathable than fabrics without Airflow technology
Dries up to 20% faster than fabrics without Airflow technology
Optimal breathability and comfort using lightweight fabric constructions
No topical treatments
How does it work?

These fabrics allow for air to flow across a wide surface area providing increased breathability without the use of topical treatments.

What are the benefits of this technology?

Marmot's Airflow technology provides advanced air permeability and enhanced dry time for comfort during your fitness activities and adventures on the trail.

drirelease with FreshGuard®

What is it?

drirelease with FreshGuard® is a moisture-transport system built into the yarn that delivers everlasting wicking that won't wash out.

How does it work?

drirelease with FreshGuard® wicks moisture by moving liquid away from skin and pushing it to the outside of the fabric. FreshGuard® is embedded in the fabric eliminating odors and stopping the attraction of odor-causing bacteria.

What are the benefits of this technology?

drirelease® fabric dries quickly, in fact it dries 4x faster than cotton making it energy saving because your drirelease® garment will spend less time in the dryer. And because no harmful chemicals are used, drirelease® is environmentally friendly.
